Asya Sevde Sari

I have been making music since I was six years old and have spent more than twenty years developing artistry as a pianist, songwriter, and performer. With a Master’s degree in Popular Music/Songwriting from the University of Agder and a Bachelors Degree in Classical Piano, I combine the classical tradition with popular music, songwriting and performance. What inspires me about teaching students is to be able to help them reach their goals, and share good time together while they’re growing. I also think with each person, I get to experience a music piece in so many different ways, so that allows me to be able to explore new ways of teaching. It motivates me deeply when my students feel happy with themselves and experience the joy of mastering something they once found challenging. I value open communication and always try to create an environment where students feel safe, heard, and encouraged. I believe in listening to how they feel throughout their journey and guiding them in a way that supports both their musical and personal growth.

I can help students find their artistic voice, channel their creativity, and create something of their own while mastering the piano. The piano is an important instrument because it resembles a large orchestra — understanding its keys, harmonies, and logic plays a huge role in developing a deeper understanding of music.
In my lessons, I guide students in piano performance, singing while playing, composing and recording their own music, and developing creative expression through the instrument. At the same time, I help them build a solid foundation in various piano techniques that comes from the classical tradition.
